Q: Why should I consider buying custom made furniture?

A: The biggest advantage to having a piece of furniture custom designed and built for you is that you will get exactly what you want. You choose the style, size, type of wood, hardware and finish. Another advantage is that you can be sure that the quality of your custom furniture piece is superior to that of a similar mass produced item. You should NEVER have to settle for something that is “close” to what you want because it is all you can find in a retail store.

Q: Can you design a piece of furniture from pictures I have?

A: Yes. Many clients come to us with pictures found in decorating magazines or on the internet. These pictures can be a great help in bringing your ideas to the design stage. Quite often characteristics from a number of different pictures can combine to show the style, hardware and finish that you have in mind for your custom furniture piece.

Q: How much will it cost to have a piece of furniture made?

A: Custom designed and built furniture is more expensive than mass produced pieces. And of course it will be more expensive than that store which lets you assemble it yourself. The dowels and fasteners that they provide are certainly convenient. However, nothing compares to the quality construction and joinery of a custom made piece. Our furniture pieces will become family heirlooms. In short, just as every piece of custom furniture is unique, so is its price. The price will vary depending on the size and complexity of the piece, the materials used, the type of finish and the length of time required to complete the project.

Q: I am ready to order a piece of custom furniture. What do I do next?

A: The first step is to request a quote. Go to our Get Your Project Started page and submit all of the required information. Within a few days, you will be contacted with a rough estimated price for your project, a request for additional information, or both. If you decide to proceed, an initial meeting will be scheduled to discuss your ideas for your custom design. We will use the information from this meeting to produce a hand drawn sketch and a written estimate. We will then contact you to arrange a second meeting to discuss the sketch and estimate. If you like what you see, we will produce drawings that we can work from and as well as a specifications sheet outlining the details of the project. At this point, you are under no obligation and you do not need to pay anything until you agree to the estimate and sign the contract. Once we agree on the specifics, we will require your signature and a 50% deposit. At this time your piece will be placed into the production schedule. Upon completion of your furniture, you will be contacted to arrange delivery or pick-up. The balance due will be billed at this time.

Q: How long will it take to get my custom furniture?

A: The typical turnaround time is 6-8 weeks from the time we receive your initial deposit. The time it takes to build your project will depend on its size and complexity and how many other projects are ahead in the production schedule. We work on a first come first served basis in order of when your initial deposit is received. Prior to accepting your initial deposit, a start date and delivery date will be agreed upon.
